Essendon AFL Drug Saga

2. GETTING CONVICTIONS

GETTING CONVICTIONS: 12 APRIL 2015

  1. In a major Freudian slip, News Limited’s Rebecca Wilson captured the scandalous part her friends from the Age played in the Essendon Saga.

  2. Rebecca Wilson said she felt sorry for Caroline Wilson and Baker and Mackenzie because “they had worked so hard to get a conviction”

  3. I have read the press council, Fairfax and News codes over and over. I can’t fathom where the comment on Sydney radio by News Limited’s Rebecca Wilson fits in.

  4. Having sent you 50 plus scoops, which finished in the bin, I obviously know nothing about the newspaper world. In my ignorance, I didn’t think “getting convictions” was part of the job description of proper journalists! Can anyone please enlighten me as to when getting convictions became Kosher and was part of your codes?

  5. My only guess was getting convictions appeared in the small print of “How to win a Walkley”, or perhaps, it was an instruction from the AFL to the branch office in return for leaks. I was aware Carowhine Wilson received more leaks than the men’s toilets at the MCG on a hot Boxing Day Ashes Test, so, perhaps that is the answer.
