DICK POUND
Canadian Dick Pound helped found WADA and was its first president
Dear Mr Pound
I listened with great interest to your comments about Maria Sharapova.
As a former international sportsman, I share your anger at sportsmen and women who cheat. I hope you share my anger when the policeman, WADA, cheats.
A sportsmen cheating won’t bring the house down. However, WADA cheating could have a catastrophic effect on the world’s sporting house, particularly in an Olympic year.
The attached document written by me has been scrutinised by a number of people far smarter than I. They all agree that I have provided irrefutable proof that in the WADA v 34 AFL football players (Essendon) WADA used tainted evidence gathered in a corrupted investigation by ASADA. WADA tabled changed evidence; fabricated evidence; omitted evidence; and tabled information which it knew was untrue.
If WADA doesn’t take the initiative and try and save face by asking CAS to reverse the decision it will be smashed.
John Coates and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull have implied that it is not their problem. Although their attitudes are disappointing, they have gifted me much higher targets, which will generate more interest in the story.
I urge you to take the half-hour required to read my document. That half an hour will save you days and months having to rebuild WADA.
When I became interested, I didn’t know a single person who supported Essendon. I have spent more than 10,000 hours working on the saga.
WADA can’t be seen to be cheating. WADA needs you to save it.
